RETAIL NEWS: THE LARGEST HARVEY NICHOLS STORE OUTSIDE OF THE UK OPENS IN DUBAI

With the opening of Harvey Nichols, Al Tayer Group further consolidates its position as the largest luxury fashion retailer in the region.
Acknowledging what is an important milestone for the brand, Joseph Wan, CEO of Harvey Nichols Group Ltd said, “We are delighted to have Harvey Nichols open in Dubai which is today regarded as one of the top luxury retail destinations of the world. The store is a fitting tribute to the discerning Dubai shopper, for whom luxury is a way of life. With the expertise of the Al Tayer Group in luxury retail, we are confident of Harvey Nichols, Dubai becoming the benchmark for the luxurious shopping experience in the UAE.”
An industry leader, Al Tayer Group’s Chairman & CEO, Obaid Humaid Al Tayer said, “this partnership is in synergy with the Group’s philosophy of representing the best in category. It gives me great pleasure indeed to present Harvey Nichols to the country’s discerning shoppers while further strengthening the UAE’s image of a world class shopping haven.”
With an investment in excess of 100 million AED, the store is designed by pre-eminent architect, Callison Architecture Inc. to be the region’s premier luxury shopping destination. Drawing inspiration from the flagship Knightsbridge’s store in London, Callison’s have distilled the essence of Harvey Nichols for the Middle East into a bright and opulent presentation while retaining the brand’s cool modernism.
Harvey Nichols is popularly loved as the ultimate fashion experience with the best edited selection of brands in Fashion, Food, Home and Beauty. A highly regarded team of buyers at Harvey Nichols - Dubai, continues the brand’s unique proposition of offering an impressive breadth and depth of exclusive merchandise, across categories.
Speaking on the occasion, Shireen El Khatib, GM, Fashion & Jewellery Division, Al Tayer Group, said “With the brand’s heritage of over 190 years of catering to a distinguished and discerning clientele; offering a range of shopping experiences and solutions, Harvey Nichols, Dubai carries forward this legacy in the same style.”

There are several specialty areas within the store designed to specifically address the shopping preferences of the exclusive Harvey Nichols clientele. These range from a Personal Shopping Suite, designed to create an intimate experience for the personal shopping client to Lingerie / Swimwear surrounded by a frosted glass enclosure, allowing women to browse in comfort and privacy. Designed with a salon-like atmosphere, the Fine Jewellery department is tailored to support the high-service environment of the Fine Jewellery transaction, while Home, featuring the largest Ralph Lauren Home shop-in-shop in Dubai, allows for merchandising and display of furniture and home accessories in an elegant and spacious environment like no other.

Hair Bar, Nail Bar and Men’s Spa are private areas that invite women and men, respectively, to relax in privacy and comfort while they are pampered and rejuvenated in luxury and style. Taking the experience to another level, there is Beyond Beauty, Juice Bar and the Harvey Nichols Foodmarket - all signature Harvey Nichols concepts. These areas feature the prestige products, refreshments and pre-packaged food items that are quintessentially Harvey Nichols.

Distinguishing itself yet further, Dubai’s Harvey Nichols provides an exclusive concierge service for its patrons, run by Quintessentially. Another treasure nestled in the luxurious ambience of the store is, Assouline, a concept where the culture of fine books
joins the universe of luxury.

Harvey Nichols will also provide Dubai its latest gourmet destination – Almaz by Momo. The restaurant will serve cuisine that is an innovative blend of the modern and the traditional, carrying the taste of North Africa to the Gulf, much like Momo’s, London’s landmark restaurant.

Congratulating Al Tayer Group on the store’s opening, Jim Badour, Vice President, Mall of the Emirates, said “Harvey Nichols is a department store of worldwide repute. Mall of the Emirates has already set a new benchmark for offering its visitors an unprecedented range of stylish international brands in categories such as fashion and home ware. The arrival of Harvey Nichols with its great range of cutting edge designers can only further enhance this reputation.”
